SMLA February Membership Meeting -
IMPORTANT MEETING NOTE:
The February meeting has been moved to the 2nd Tues, Feb 12th.
Discrimination issues, service animals, and the process of handling charges of discrimination. Amy Sneirson, Executive Director of the Maine Human Rights Commission, will discuss and answer questions about discrimination issues, service animals, and the process of handling charges of discrimination. This is a GREAT opportunity for landlords to learn how to manage these challenging issues and hopefully avoid problems.
“No on 1’s” next life – The Quality Housing Coalition. Tom Watson, Victoria Morales, and Brit Vitalius unveil what the QHC has been working on and future direction.
Steve Doman, University of Maine – New tenant selection tool
RentScore is a University of Maine sponsored project. It’s an innovative approach to help landlords select tenants. Much like credit scores, it calculates a score used to determine tenant risk based on their rental history. This project will be featured this spring on an episode of Green Light Maine https://greenlightmaine.com/
Steve is asking for the SMLA’s help with this innovative project. “This brief 10 question survey will help us gain information to make the score work best for you, the landlord! Please use the link below to take our quick survey.”
