March may be the “DON'T MISS IT” meeting.
Don Rung, the head of loss control for Vermont Mutual, will make one last appearance with the SMLA before his retirement later this year. Don's insights and tips on real, practical things you can do to prevent problems at properties are incredibly useful. As one member said of just one piece of Don's advice: "That one tip was worth the price of membership and the dinner!"
Dan Bernier is the attorney and lobbyist for the SMLA and another Maine landlord organization in Augusta. He will provide an update on the current slate of proposals at the State. He will also give us a window into how he works and the best ways for our members to support him.
Steve Dorman will join us to discuss the University of Maine-sponsored tenant selection tool called RentScore. This innovative program assists landlords in selecting a suitable tenant by calculating a tenant risk score based on rental history. This project will be featured this spring on an episode of Green Light Maine https://greenlightmaine.com/.
--Steve is asking for the SMLA's help with this project. "This brief 10 question survey will help us gain information to make the score work best for you, the landlord! Please use the link below to take our quick survey."
